Friday night featured a “Chili Dump.” Each couple brought enough canned chili for the two of them and on Friday afternoon we combined them all in one big pot to heat the mixture. Chopped onions, shreaded cheese, oyster crackers and Fritos were furnished by the hosts along with some hot sauce for those that found the mix too tame for their tastes. Green salad with assorted dressings was also available.
On Saturday night we dined at the “Abby” in their large room. We had our choice of the buffet or ordering off the menu http://www.arcadiavalleyacademy.com
Saturday morning featured parades at both Peidmont and Ironton followed by music (“The Ozark Heritage Festival") at Ironton or a carnival with vendors and a car show at Peidmont http://mountainmusicfestival.net/fall-lineup.html
Some followed the Civil War driving tour of all the Civil War sites in Iron County using the brochure with a map available at the campground to find the Granite markers at all the sites. They recently received a grant for the project, and it has been completed.

Campout was hosted by Jerry and Joan at:

A rather lazy weekend began for most on Friday with the usual junking expeditions, area
explorations and visits to the Illinois State Fair. It was amazing the stamina exhibited by some
of our members by the hours they spent tromping around the Fairgrounds. By mutual consent,
most of the group descended on "Cheddar's" for dinner. The evening pass-the-trash game
came down to a head to head showdown between Dorothy and Dale. Dale
came out the winner.
Several members took Saturday to visit the Lincoln attractions in the Springfield area while
others continued their activities of the previous day. You could find many members at the
"Cozy Dog Drive In” partaking of the specialty of the house, corn-dogs. Continuing the
hallmark activity of our Chapter, eating, dinner was at "Mario's" for delicious Italian fare. Due
to late rain showers the evenings pass-the-trash game was somewhat shortened. But, Jerry
did walk away with the rather meager pot.
Sunday morning the Chapter meeting followed our potluck breakfast.
July 18th-20th
A camping weekend hosted by Leo and Sandy at
Cozy C Campground
16733 US Highway 54
Bowling Green, MO 63334
phone 1-573-324-3055
For those campers in on Thursday, Leo and Sandy had arranged for dinner at the Bowling
Green Diner after which everyone took advantage of the nice weather and just hung out and
visited.
Friday was a day to explore the area "on your own." Linda led the "junking"
expedition while others visited favorite shops in Amish Country, relaxed on the Louisiana
waterfront or just plain relaxed in camp. Dinner was at the "Saints Avenue Cafe" where much
damage was done to their very good buffet. Returning to camp, a shortened game of pass-
the-trash was won by Joan. Her second straight win (you'd think she would show a little
mercy).
Saturday was similar to Friday in that folks scattered in different directions to continue
"junking", exploring and visiting the Amish shops. Added to the list of sites were the "Louisiana
Area Historical Museum" where the stories of the area were brought to life by the many
displays; and the Stark Brothers Nursery.
The highlight of the weekend was an authentic Amish dinner at the home of Barbara Yoder.
Prepared by Mrs. Yoder and her daughter, then served by her granddaughters, the food was
wonderful and without end. Capped off by huge pieces of cake and pie we were so full the
cars all sagged low on the way back to camp.
One more game of pass-the-trash won this time by your editor.
Sunday morning the Chapter meeting followed our potluck breakfast.

Early arrivers spent Friday "junking" and visiting area attractions including the Isle Casino
where some had more success than most. All enjoyed the BYO Pizza dinner in the nice cool
rec room. Thanks to Jack and Janette for the salad and desserts. Gary Brickson won the
ensuing game of pass-the-trash.
Saturday started early for those who visited the River Front Market in Cape. Other activities
for the day included visits to the Heritage Museum, Bollinger Mill and the Summer Arts Festival
at the SEMO River Campus. After dinner at Delmonico’s everyone returned to the rec room
for pass-the-trash. At the men's table Jerry outlasted them all and the winner at the
women's table was Joan. In a single hand show down Joan walked away with all the
nickels.
